The first edition of DreamHack in The Netherlands was held in Rotterdam. For those that aren’t aware gamers, geeks, and e-sports all come together here for a weekend full of events. For the first edition of a DreamHack LAN party, I must say… it was good.
What is DreamHack?
For those that have no idea what DreamHack is; DreamHack is a large LAN party event for more e-sports enthusiasts.
You can also buy lots of different hardware for gaming PC’s, video cards, CPU from different brands and companies. It is is heavily focused on PC gaming. Larger brands such as PlayStation held booths. At PlayStation’s particular booth where you could experience PlayStation VR and play against other. They specially invited shout-caster Ouassima aka LOSTyGIRL who is famous for here Mortal Kombat gameplay on YouTube.
A LAN is not a party if you don’t share it with others! You have the option to just play for 48 hours straight! No showering what so ever. DreamHack Rotterdam had a decent amount of space for gamers. For the first edition, it was a good start.
Gaming, Streaming, E-sports and more
DreamHack is also the perfect place to watch your favourite streamer stream live. They had a streaming booth for selective Twitch streamers. You could attend their streaming live if you were also present or see them online too.
All the way in the back you could join the pro’s playing live! Games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Fortnite and few more. You could also go back in time and play some retro games. Which was one of my favourite area. For the fighting game enthusiast, you could join Brawlhalla.
That was not all. I was very surprised by the Drone race that was held in the same room as the retro area. These small things had to fly parkour that was so fast that I had problems following it sometimes. But it was pretty awesome to see how agile you had to fly to win. Don’t forget cosplayers that are now a must at every game event, LAN party, and comic cons.
For a first edition, I had so much fun and it was well put down. I will definitely check it out next year. I hope to see even more awesomeness. Nicely done!
